LOOM: Handmade Scarves from Uruguay (+ a discount code)

When clothing has a story, we love it more. We wear it more. I think we humans like to know where things come from.

This piece has a story. For starters, it’s functional. It’s warm.  It’s SOFT.  It’s beautiful.

But here’s the deeper story: Founders Natalia and Mariana recently started LOOM out of a desire to connect with the weaving history of their native country, Uruguay. They sell a small, curated collection of handmade scarves and a traditional shawl called a ruana.

I’m slow to buy things, and after a long consideration, I picked out one of their chunky scarves to be my winter weather companion this year. I couldn’t be happier with it, and I’ve been wearing it nonstop since I picked it up.

Now the scarf has a new story:

One of crisp sunset hikes in my favorite park outside Nashville. One of cold winter walks across the Cumberland River. One of evening gatherings with friends just before before the solstice brings the light back.

If you’re looking for a warm, functional, beautifully-made scarf that works with any outfit– this is the one that has been my closet hero as the days grow cold and the sun sets early.

Mariana and Natalia are offering a 20% discount on anything in their shop for Every Day Clothes readers. It’s valid now through the end of December.  Use the code EDC10 at checkout.
